Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Headed

Black Widow Bike Works was started out of my garage in 2007. However; the road to that point was a long one in itself. I actually became interested in motorcycles as a kid. The riding bug bit me around age nine, when my brothers started taking me out dirt biking back when the forests of New Jersey were still barren and undeveloped.

It was when I turned seventeen that I went and got my license to ride (legally). I hid my first bike (I scraped every last penny to buy) from my family for almost two years. Even though my brothers where always riders, my mother didn’t appreciate my desire to ride, as many mothers would agree. But after doing ride after ride down my street with mama watching, her fears dissipated to a lesser tier of hysteria :)

This two-wheeled machine lead me to Arizona at the age of twenty-two to attend MMI (Motorcycle Mechanics Institute). At the time I was one of three woman attending classes there, and the only female to graduate in my class. Hard knocks and amazing teachers took me down the path to becoming a better rider and eventually a master mechanic (whatever that means). Even harder knocks hit when, as a green horn tech, I entered the dealerships and custom shops now since closed down in our depressive economic state.

As a female, I had a harder time fitting into this very manly, gruff, puffed-chest-out world. The testosterone in the air damn near choked me to death. But it made the respect I earned from my peers all the sweeter; for I could call any of them right at this moment and wherever they are in the US (or otherwise) they would lend me an ear, or a hand.

So here I am, at the crossroads of Make or Break. I have earned my place here and left plenty of blood sweat and tears on this road. I hope we can continue the journey together and weave the web back to sanity. Enjoy..
